I registered my bike and reported a theft on Bikewise.org. The police have a report also--complete with photos of the thieves. But these guys have been there a while and apparently more than one customer of the store has had a bike stolen. They are stealing and fencing bikes in Belltown. I wonder if there is a way to prevent selling and buying of stolen bikes? Seems like the bike theft ring could be busted by lack of buyers for stolen bikes. I notice that the Bikewise register has a place to enter a serial number. Does this mean that people need to check a serial number before they buy? I wish there was a way to stop bike theft. This is a second time a bike has been stolen from me. The first one was never recovered; this time, I recovered it myself. But I reported the theft because I want to stop them from stealing again. Maybe bikers could cooperate in stopping thefts by checking serial numbers.
