John, great article again! In this context, it was surprising to learn that the change in the priorities of the politicians was sparked by the public demonstration in the 70s-the image you showed in the previous blog post-. Some of us Seattlelites were lamenting that politicians in Seattle dont give a step without political coverage, and were surprised to learn that in this particular case political results were more than anything a reaction to the people's request, manifested that day. We need not a manifestation of bicyclists but one of people in support for bicycle infrastructure.

It's time for Seattle to come up with a simple, lovely pro-bike logo - on the order of the Copenhagen "I bike CPH" at the end of this post. Something that looks cool on tshirts and bumperstickers but also is simple and elegant, and clearly states folks in Seattle bike. Seattle's airport designation of SEA is too confusing (unlike PDX for example) - so the whole Seattle name needs to be spelled out. Know any great designers? The other day I saw a cool logo that integrated a heart into the shape of a bike (this was some city's pro-bike logo - can't find it now) along with the name of the city.
