Cascade’s Bicycle Ambassadors are gearing up for a busy spring and summer. Our Bicycle Ambassadors are part of Cascade’s outreach team and attend all kinds of events from Transportation Fairs at businesses, health nights at local schools, and Energizer stations along trails and popular bike routes. The Ambassadors are all prepared to answer your route-finding questions, provide the latest updates on bike news, or just pump up your tires. During the month of May, they will also be handing out prizes at special Bike Month Energizer stations all around Seattle and the surrounding areas. Look out for their colorful tablecloth and smiling faces at the following events this week:

May 10: Bike Month Energizer Station: Interlaken
May 10: Lawton Elementary Health and Fitness Day
May 13: Bicycle Sunday, Seward Park
Even though only a few of us can be “official” Cascade Bicycle Ambassadors, everyone can serve as an ambassador for bike riders on a daily basis. We all know Bike Month is a great time to ride your bike, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to set an example on two-wheels. With trails and bike lanes getting more crowded, don’t forget those little courtesies that make everyone’s commute that much better. Using hand signals, alerting people when you are passing, and yielding to pedestrians are all simple tasks, yet they send a hugely important message that bicyclists are responsible and respectful users of the road (this might seem obvious to you, but there are definitely still those that need convincing). Plus, these small gestures keep us ALL safer and happier! It’s amazing how much appreciation you will receive from taking these actions. Let’s all be safe and happy out there this May, and beyond.
