Here near the Pierce County line, there just aren't a lot of cyclists. So I try to acknowledge every cyclist I see, even across the roadway from me. (Remember Crocodile Dundee?) I also smile and greet just about every pedestrian I meet or pass on my route. And I throw up a hand in acknowledgement & thanks to just about every driver who yields at an intersection or crossing. Riding makes me smile. If I can make them smile, too, perhaps they'll develop a better feeling about cyclists - and maybe even try biking themselves at some point.

It was a great day. :-)

I noticed the happy buzz too. It seems like it's carrying over beyond just BTW day -- am getting more friendly grins and hellos from both cyclists and pedestrians, especially on the trails.

We should do what motorcyclists do as a matter of "code" -- acknowledge every other cyclist we see -- with a little head nod or friendly eye contact.
