Your message board is appalling. You need to have someone regulate it. There are some mentally ill people out there that just make it harder for the rest of us that genuinely want to share information. You guys should be monitoring and shutting these people down. It is not a friendly place to go and I don’t anymore.
I just heard that “Cascade won’t allow you to bike their training series unless you sign up and pay for one of their 2 day rides”, That does not promote riding with any age group. What message are you sending…that only the members are fronting the money for your fundraising for community efforts etc.? Good Grief, this news is upsetting. I know people in your area that should be able to join with out that type of restriction.
Hi Cathrin,
Anyone and everyone is welcome to ride and train for their own goals and interests through the Cascade free daily rides program. Many people are riding for all kinds of reasons, from event training to general fitness to simple pleasure to social connections. Age groups are not restricted, though some rides may be less appropriate for youth riders than others. Nonetheless, the free daily rides offer ample opportunities, just about every day of the year, for unrestricted (as you put it) riding opportunities.
The Cascade Training Series is a different program, and I encourage you to learn more about it to understand what it is, the expectations of riders, the commitment of our volunteer leaders, etc. http://shop.cascade.org/content/events/cascade-training-series-schedule.
Happy riding!
