I recently treated myself to a dynohub and decently powerful dynohub powered front light. It is beyond awesome - my only regret is I didn't do it sooner. I also came by a Blink-Steady tail light as a gift from a friend, which is motion sensitive - turns on when the bike is moving, turns off when the bike stops moving or it's so sunny outside the rear light won't add to visibility. Fire and forget!! They're my two favorite safety items.

Gadgets - Garmin Edge 800 takes the cake. I don't go anywhere without mine. I also rigged it up to a PedalPower+ system, but it eats in to the power supply of the dynolight when the light is on, so I tend only to use it to charge the Edge during daylight hours.

Chances are I'll use this setup to ride the 2 day STP 2013 while staying off the electrical grid completely.
