With temperatures in the lower 40s and barely any rain, Mother Nature was kind to the 4,100 Chilly Hilly riders on Sunday, Feb. 24.
Maybe it’s the gorgeous scenery and the festive ferry ride. Maybe it’s the challenge of the relentless rolling terrain. Maybe it’s the promise of home-baked cookies en route and the hot chili feed at the finish. Or maybe we all know that if we wait for the weather to clear, we could be waiting for months. Whatever the reason, the Chilly Hilly is always a blast! Since its start 41 years ago, the Chilly Hilly has been kicking off biking season and reminding us that winter weather is no excuse to stop riding.
Ride Ref Leo Stone informs us that this year’s Chilly Hilly was “the most trouble-free Chilly Hilly” he had ridden since 1988. Thank you all for riding safely and for making this such a great event!
Rider submitted photos, with more over on our Facebook Chilly Hilly event:
Also check out Seattle Times’ photo gallery and head over to the Kitsap Sun for an inside look at the radio operations.
If you had a great time on Chilly Hilly, check out the Seattle Brews Cruise, coming up in May. Routes are 30 or 40 miles, with a 500 rider limit.
