Armed with maps and safety brochures, Cascade Bicycle Ambassadors are experienced bicyclists out in the community to talk to you about safe riding, commuting options, bike infrastructure and the services that Cascade offers. They might even pump up your tires or lube your chain for you! Additionally, Ambassadors will be tabling at a number of business fairs organized by CBRE, Commute Seattle, Commonwealth Partners, Vulcan, and Hines Property Management.
Keep an eye out for our friendly and knowledgeable Bicycle Ambassadors at the Ballard Farmers Market (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Alki Beach (3-6 p.m.) this coming Sunday. There will also be an Energizer Station on the I-90 trail between Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and the bike tunnel on Monday, April 15, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Cascade Bicycle Club is an enthusiastic promoter of bike commuting. We produce programs such as the Commute Challenge in May (last year’s had over 12,000 participants!). The Cascade Bicycle Ambassador team is another way that the Club supports commuting by bike; these friendly and knowledgeable bicycle enthusiasts attend events all over Seattle to answer questions about starting to ride, route-finding, gear, and more. Cascade promotes bicycling at business-sponsored transportation fairs and health fairs: over 52 in 2012! Ambassadors also run frequent “Energizer Stations”, designed to support people on bikes by providing maps, lubing chains, pumping up tires, and more.
The Ambassadors bring our work back to the community, and in turn inform the Club about how to improve what we do.
Are you passionate about commuting by bike? Want to inform others about a healthy, economical, and environmentally friendly way to get to and from work? Share your tricks of the trade with new commuters, and let car commuters know what they’re missing! Commuting, in addition to a number of other topics, is part of the expansive knowledge of the Cascade Bicycle Ambassadors. And now you have an opportunity to become one!
When was the last time you replaced your helmet? Has it been through a tumble? Are you eager to start biking but you’re missing precious brain protection?
