2010 Trail Count Locations

2010 Trail Count Locations

Help us with the 2010 Burke Gilman and Sammamish River Trail Survey! This survey happens every five years and provides valuable data to support advocacy for new trails and bike facilities around the region.

Volunteers will be counting bicyclists and pedestrians at 7 different locations along the trails, and we need your help to fill volunteer shifts between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday May 22 and between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25.  If you’re available on either or both of these days, let us know.  We have over 100 shifts to fill!  Fill in your availability here.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Major Taylor Maintenance Party Gets Our Fleet Rolling

Friday, May 7th, 2010 by

Thanks to a group of seven skilled volunteers, the Major Taylor Project’s fleet of Redline Conquests is ready to roll. The Project purchased these 30 bikes last spring so students who don’t own bikes could participate in the club.  Since then, students have ridden them on weekly rides, events like Flying Wheels and STP, and one very muddy cyclocross race. Our volunteers cleaned, tuned and sorted, and we’re excited for the bikes to hit the road with our spring riding clubs.

Help us count cyclists on light rail! April 29th

Friday, April 16th, 2010 by

Despite setbacks for safety in areas like the Missing Link, we’re continuing our work to promote better and safer access to nonmotorized options for everyone.

As part of our Southeast Seattle Bikes effort, we will be counting the number of bicyclists who board the light rail on April 29 from 7 to 9 a.m.  What’s the goal, you might ask? At this point, Sound Transit hasn’t collected real data on the number of cyclists using the light rail.  Having these numbers will help us to better understand the demand for bicycling facilities at and on light rail facilities.  As Sound Transit continues to expand the light rail network, this data will be valuable for station planning and design.

If you can help count bicyclists in Southeast Seattle on April 29, between 7 and 9 a.m., please email Tessa.  Thanks!
